Working together to make Berlin a strong events destination
The Berlin Event Board is a strategic body dedicated to the further development of Berlin as a venue for events and conferences. It brings together key players from Berlin’s tourism and events sectors and pools their expertise to bring about sustainable improvements to the framework conditions for conferences, trade fairs, and cultural, sporting and major events in Berlin.
The aim is to further develop Berlin as an internationally competitive, reliable and sustainable events hub. The Berlin Event Board sees itself as a link between the tourism and events sectors, politics and public administration.
With the establishment of the Berlin Event Board, Berlin’s events industry is coming together to position itself for the future in the face of international competition. This sends a strong signal. I wholeheartedly support this move towards ‘coopetition’ – greater cooperation amongst ourselves whilst simultaneously competing for the best opportunities. We now have a strong partner for events at our side and look forward to joint projects and success.
Tasks and key areas
The Berlin Event Board addresses overarching issues and challenges facing Berlin as an events destination. These include, in particular:
• improving the framework conditions and processes for event organisers• engaging with event organisers to discuss their needs and challenges
• developing joint solutions with politicians, the public sector and the industry
• providing support for strategically important major events and bids
• the targeted acquisition of relevant events as part of Berlin’s cluster strategy
Furthermore, the Berlin Event Board acts as a think tank for strategic issues concerning the future and further development of Berlin as an international events hub.
In dialogue with the industry
Direct communication with event organisers is a key part of our work. We take note of their experiences, challenges and specific support needs, and these are incorporated into the Berlin Event Board’s future work

Representatives from the local authority responsible for major events are regular guests at the Berlin Event Board.
