In the cvent Report 2025, the capital ranks among the top 7 MICE destinations in Europe – a clear sign of its enduring international appeal. Berlin also ranks first as the most popular German business travel destination in the Destination Brand 23 business ranking. The positive perception of the city among international decision-makers confirms the capital's reputation as a professional, inspiring and reliable conference location.

The Berlin Convention Office's Berlin 2024 event and congress statistics from visitBerlin impressively confirm this strength: With 60,886 business events and 9.1 million participants on site, demand in 2024 has once again grown dynamically compared to the previous year. While the number of events declined slightly, the number of participants rose significantly (+28.8 per cent) – a sign of the trend towards larger, higher-quality formats.

Berlin scores highly with organisers from Germany and abroad alike: almost 21 per cent of events had an international dimension, and over a fifth of participants came from abroad. This underlines Berlin's role as a globally networked meeting metropolis.

The city impresses not only with its spatial diversity – from modern conference hotels and flexible event locations to large event centres – but also with its forward-looking approaches. More than half use artificial intelligence (AI) in event planning and communication, and over 70 per cent of providers work with certified sustainability standards.

This makes Berlin one of the international pioneers in the field of sustainability: in the Global Destination Sustainability Index 2024, Berlin ranks fifth among cities with more than 1.5 million inhabitants. The ranking assesses the sustainability performance of cities, particularly in the tourism and event industry. In Berlin, the demand for sustainable events is well above the national average – a clear competitive advantage in an international comparison of locations.

Berlin will therefore remain an inspiring location for meetings, conferences and international congresses in 2024 – and a fixture among Europe's leading MICE destinations.
