visitBerlin and the Berlin hotel trade welcome the commitment of airberlin

First non-stop connection from Los Angeles to Berlin

Berlin, 18. Oktober 2011 airberlin is to launch a new long-haul flight from the United States: as of 11 May 2012, the airline will fly non-stop between Los Angeles and the German capital three times a week. Following the successful introduction of the New York and Miami routes, Berlin’s partner city on the American West Coast will be another new addition to the route network.

“airberlin’s summer programme is a great leap forward,” says visitBerlin’s managing director Burkhard Kieker. “The consistent expansion of the hub at the new BER airport ensures the long-term success of the tourism trade and convention business in the German capital. The Berlin hotel industry, airberlin and visitBerlin are working closely together to market the new route successfully.”

Between January and August 2011, approximately 180,000 visitors from the United States came to Berlin. They generated around 441,000 overnight stays, making the United States the most important overseas market.
