The first Berlin Music Week is staged from 6 to 12 September

Premiere for Berlin‘s biggest music event in 2010

Berlin, 6 September 2010 From Monday the international music world will turn its attention to Berlin. That’s when a completely new big event with international music acts celebrates its premiere in the city on the river Spree: Berlin Music Week. Over the next few days three major industry events are staged under the same banner for the first time ever. The music fair Popkomm, the industry get-together all2gethernow and the Berlin Festival present the music scent in the German capital from 6 to 12 September.

“The new Music Week makes Berlin complete at last”, comments Burkhard Kieker, CEO of Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH. “Fashion art, design and now music: Berlin is where new trends see the light of day. Music Week is a perfect match for the image the world has of Berlin.”

The main location is the old Berlin-Tempelhof airport which is rapidly becoming a magical venue for the music scene. Other locations are the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg, the Spreeareal in the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and various clubs throughout the city. Alongside congresses and discussions for the international trade public, the programme also features numerous club events, showcases and live concerts by international stars and newcomers for lovers of all music genres.

Besides the three big main events, other highlights are the “Summerize Festival” in the Kulturbrauerei, the “Clubspreeberlin” between the Jannowitz- und Elsenbrücke bridges in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and the “Berlin Club Night”. With the record-breaking participation of almost 44 clubs, around 100 DJs and more than 20 bands, the world’s biggest club night on 11 September is the fitting end to the Music Week.

Last-minute fans who simply don’t want to miss out on the music and club marathon can book accommodation online on www.visitBerlin.de or by phoning 030 – 25 00 25.
