Working on your own corporate sustainability commitment means facing an unknown future in a resilient and crisis-proof manner.
Companies that strive for a continuous improvement process and optimise processes in the direction of sustainability minimise operational costs and risks in the long term. Taking on corporate social responsibility also enhances a company's image, helps to fulfil customer expectations and makes companies attractive on the employer market.
There are many reasons to work on your own corporate social responsibility and to make this visible through recognised certification. It is not easy to find your way through the jungle of the many different certifications and find the right one for your own company. In the following, we would therefore like to show you what distinguishes Sustainable Berlin from other certification programmes and what advantages our programme offers you:
Low costs for participating companies
Thanks to funding from the Berlin Senate's resilience programme, participation in Sustainable Berlin is free of charge for Berlin companies in the tourism and event industry until at least 31 December 2025. The funding covers the costs of auditing, support from visitBerlin, participation in events and the various services offered by our support programme.
Become part of a strong, local movement
With us, you not only receive certification, you are also part of a strong movement and a regional network that continues to develop together. With regular events, such as our meet-ups, we promote dialogue between partners. We want to inspire and motivate each other, share best practices and work together to secure Berlin tourism for our city in the long term.
Internationally recognised catalogue of criteria developed with and for the industry
Thecriteria catalogue of our certification system is transparent and meets the highest international standards. Sustainable Berlin is the only German certification programme of a region whose sustainability criteria for the tourism and event industry are recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
The certification criteria were developed together with and for the industry. They are geared towards the needs and special features of companies in the industry. Whether hotel, tour operator, venue or caterer, an individual set of criteria applies to each service sector.
Free support on the way to the audit
We know that the certification process presents companies with major challenges. That is why we provide participating companies with a diverse support programme.
The free, full-day roadmap workshop, for example, provides a perfect introduction to the certification process. We discuss all the criteria with you step by step and draw up your personalised roadmap. In addition, our live webinars, the individual consultation days or the audit preparation training provide comprehensive preparation for the audit. You can find an overview of all offers here.
