Convention destination Berlin at a glance

Berlin, 23 July 2009 The new Meeting Guide Berlin is now available. The planning tool published by the Berlin Convention Office (BCO) presents the German capital as a meeting and convention destination. It features numerous hotels as well as locations and service partners of the BCO of Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH. An overview of events like the World Championships in Athletics in August and the Berlin Year of Science 2010, information on Berlin‘s tourist attractions and a public transport network map of the German capital round off the contents of the latest Meeting Guide.

One new feature in the 2009/2010 issue is the News section. It is dedicated, for instance, to the subject “Green Meetings”. The Berlin Convention Office supports the shift on the meeting and convention market from traditional to environmentally compatible events and services. Together with the Berlin Preferred Agencies it has created the website www.Berlin-Green-Meetings.com as a platform for the providers of eco-friendly services in the German capital. The new Meeting Guide Berlin has once again been printed on paper produced in an environmentally compatible manner.

53 Berlin Hotels and 44 special locations are showcased in the Meeting Guide. The latest addition: the Seminaris CampusHotel with the conference cube “The Dahlem Cube”. It presents its conference facilities and room offering as does the Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin which will opens its doors to guests for the first time in August 2009. In the section Special Event Locations the offering ranges from the Hard Rock Cafe, over the Orangerie in Charlottenburg Palace to the O2 World.

In this planning tool all the locations have been listed in a separate, user-friendly table with details of capacity, facilities and star categories. In addition to the whole-page spreads on each of the meeting and convention venues, the section also contains information on hotels and event locations. For visitors to Berlin the pictograms make it easier to locate the event organisers. This feature shows the distance from the individual locations to Berlin’s two airports, the exhibition grounds and the new main railway station.

The Meeting Guide Berlin 2009/2010 is published in German and English. It is available both in a printed A4 format and online at www.berlin-convention-office.com. The homepage now also offers a clearly structured presentation of all the hotels and event locations that appear in the Guide.
