Berlin, 12 October 2010 Starting today the biggest Festival of Lights ever thrills both Berliners and visitors to the city. More than 60 attractions are artistically illuminated. Furthermore, there are city tours, the Open Nights and a firework display.

visitBerlin – CEO Burkhard Kieker comments on the importance of the event, “The Festival of Lights turns Berlin into a complete work of art and delights guests from all over the world. More than one million visitors and 300,000 additional room nights are chalked up every year during this event. These figures are not surprising. After all, the artists introduce light into the dark season of the year in a fascinating manner. Twelve days long!”
In line with the leitmotiv “Berlin Year of Science 2010”, numerous attractions are lit up in blue. Furthermore, famous scientific sayings are projected on to the Brandenburg Gate. The Westin Grand Hotel Berlin on Friedrichstraße participates for the first time with a 3D light show. Spectators are treated to a nature animation with butterflies and blooming flowers.
