Lufthansa with 30 new destinations for Berlin

Berlin, 9 November 2011 Lufthansa will considerably increase its offering at the opening of the new capital airport BER. From June 2012 onwards the airline will connect 30 new destinations to Berlin.

“We are pleased to see that Lufthansa bets on the attractiveness of Berlin. This is another important step forward,” says Burkhard Kieker, visitBerlin CEO. “The worldwide distribution power of the airline will help Berlin to improve its ranking in the European top league of city destinations.”

For Berlin tourism the new flights from the top markets Italy, France, Scandinavia and Israel are particularly relevant. For the convention business, a positive impact can likewise be anticipated, above all from the new services from Birmingham, Manchester and Geneva. “The finely meshed German and European route network will also be an incentive for airlines from the Star Alliance to think about long-haul flights to Berlin,” Kieker stresses.

The airport BER and the new connections to Europe and the world step up the appeal of the German capital. This will lead to yet another increase in the number of visitors and congress participants.
