Museum Island Berlin: The hall with the Pergamon-Altar remains closed for the public for several years
Berlin, 30 September 2014 The hall with the Pergamon-Altar in the Pergamon museum will remain closed to the public for at least five years. The reason is the refurbishment of the museum as part of the Master Plan Museum Island. In addition, some parts of the 2.200 years old altar are being restored.
However, the museum remains open. Exhibits like the Market Gate of Miletus and the Ishtar Gate will be open to the public. The Pergamon Museum is with its 1.3 million visitors a year the most popular museum in Berlin.
