Burkhard Kieker

On 1 January 2009, Burkhard Kieker was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, which operates under the visitBerlin brand name. As Chief Executive Officer, he is responsible for promoting Germany’s capital city globally in the tourism and convention sector, and for maintaining and developing the brand of Berlin.

Prior to joining Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, he worked for the Deutsche Lufthansa AG and was Head of Aviation Marketing for the Berlin airports. Previously, his career had focused on the world of journalism, working for RIAS Berlin, later for the weekly DIE ZEIT in Hamburg, and then for Deutsche Welle TV.

Burkhard Kieker is a graduate of the International Executive Program (IEP) at the INSEAD Business School in Paris and Singapore. He took his first degree in politics and history at the LMU Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität), and attended the Deutsche Journalistenschule in Munich.

Sabine Wendt

Sabine Wendt has been the second Managing Director of visitBerlin since 1 January 2024. The tourism expert has been working for visitBerlin since 2009 and has successfully developed the company together with Burkhard Kieker. She is responsible for the areas of destination management and corporate development. This includes the areas of sustainability, digitalisation, controlling as well as district and partner work.

Previously, the Berlin native worked as a press officer, airline product manager and strategy and planning officer at Berlin Airports. Sabine Wendt is a graduate of the St. Gallen Management & Leadership Summer School. She studied foreign trade in Berlin and applied cultural studies at the University of Lüneburg, specialising in business administration, economic geography and tourism management.

Dr. Jürgen Amann

Dr. Jürgen Amann

Dr Jürgen Amann has been Managing Director of Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, operating under the visitBerlin brand, since 1 June 2026. Together with Sabine Wendt, he is responsible for the strategic development of Berlin as an international tourism and convention destination, as well as for strengthening the Berlin brand.

Prior to this appointment, Dr Amann served as Chief Executive Officer of KölnTourismus GmbH until March 2026, where he oversaw the organisation’s transformation from a destination marketing organisation into a destination management organisation. Until 2020, the economic geographer held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Dresden Marketing Organisation.

Dr Amann serves on the Executive Board of the German Tourism Association (Deutscher Tourismusverband, DTV) as the representative of German cities and acts as spokesperson for the Tourism Conference of the German Association of Cities (Deutscher Städtetag).

He studied Geography and Economics in Erlangen and earned his doctorate at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He began his professional career as a research associate and project manager at the Chair of Cultural Geography.
