Accessible Berlin
Travellers with special service needs have the right to travel without barriers and to use all tourism services along the tourism service chain. Accessibility is a necessity for people with disabilities. However, senior citizens and young families also benefit from accessibility measures. Many providers in the travel and tourism industry have recognised the need for action and are responding to the potential demand.
Why barrier-free?

Accessibility is one of the future tasks of tourism in Berlin: around ten million people with a disability live in Germany.
According to studies, accessibility is indispensable for 10 % of the population, helpful for 40 % and convenient for 100 %.
It is a segment with growth and great economic potential in Germany. The political importance of accessibility is growing.
Information on accessibility and a reliable certification system create planning security for those affected.
In the course of demographic development, the number of older people and thus visitors with limited mobility is growing.
Berlin wants to be a host for everyone.
