Filming in Berlin
TV teams planning to film in Berlin will find some basic information below.
Berlin is a popular backdrop – for video clips, films, TV series, advertising and other formats. Small journalistic film and photo teams, that carry out photo or film work on public streets in Berlin and Brandenburg, only require a filming permit if they obstruct traffic, including pedestrians, in any way.
Such an obstruction occurs:
- if external and fixed structures will be set up (such as tripods, spotlights or rails)
- or if other measures are taken that will obstruct traffic
Public streets and places include the following:
- Brandenburg Gate
- Reichstag (only external recordings are permitted here)
- Berlin Wall
- Gendarmenmarkt
- Alexanderplatz
For all indoor shots or when shooting on private property, prior permission must be obtained.
For further information, suitable filming locations and shooting permits please contact the Berlin Brandenburg film commission.
