Filming in Berlin

TV teams that want to film in the Spree metropolis will find here some continuative information.

Berlin is a popular backdrop – for video clips, short or feature-length films, TV series, advertising, or magazine-format programs. Small journalist film and photo teams, which carry out photo or film work on public streets and open spaces in Berlin and Brandenburg, only need a filming permit if they will obstruct traffic, including pedestrians, in any way. Such an obstruction occurs

  • if the team exceeds three to five people in number,
  • if external structures will be set up (such as tripods, spotlights or rails),
  • or if other measures are taken that will obstruct traffic.

Public streets and places include the following:

  • Brandenburg Gate
  • Reichstag (only external recordings are permitted here)
  • Berlin Wall
  • Gendarmenmarkt
  • Alexanderplatz

Filming permits are required for all interior recording as well as private grounds.

You will find further information about contacts, suitable filming locations and motifs on the Filmcommission website. They will always be pleased to be available to you as a contact.
