Germany 2024 is organising this largest European football tournament for the first time since reunification. - As the host nation, Germany automatically qualifies for EURO 2024 and is therefore taking part in the EURO finals for the 14th time in a row since 1972.
Event programme: A summer of football culture in Berlin
Fan zone and supporting programme at the Brandenburg Gate, Straße des 17. Juni and Platz der Republik: Grand opening concert, screenings and other events. The fan zone in front of the Brandenburg Gate will be a highlight. Instead of a red carpet, Berlin is rolling out the green grass for football fans, Berliners and guests, turning the Straße des 17. Juni into a playing field, a pop-up park and the fan zone into an atmospheric meeting place. For four weeks, the metropolis' landmark will become the world's largest football goal, providing a unique backdrop for unforgettable summer evenings. The Fan Zone (formerly known as the Fan Mile) at the Brandenburg Gate has been part of every World Cup and European Championship since the 2006 World Cup. Up to 130,000 visitors are expected here per match.
Fan Meeting Points will be set up at Alexanderplatz and Breitscheidplatz in Berlin.
Public Screening: Fans will get their money's worth in Berlin. Numerous bars, cafés and open-air venues will be broadcasting the matches live.

Review of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlin
- Berlin was a key venue during the 2006 FIFA World Cup and provided Berlin with a priceless image boost; the final on 9 July 2006 between Italy and France took place at the Olympiastadion and had well over three billion viewers at the TV screens and public viewing areas.
- The 2006 FIFA European Football Championship attracted football enthusiasts and tourists from all over the world to experience the atmosphere of the games and explore the city of Berlin, leaving a long-lasting economic and touristic impact on Berlin by establishing the city as an attractive destination and improving its infrastructure.
- 15 million visitors travelled to Berlin as (day) guests, around 450,000 per day.
- 9 million visitors were counted at the FIFA Fan Fest. This was the first time that an event in Germany exceeded the number of visitors to the Oktoberfest, the world's largest folk festival.
- Overnight guests in Berlin in June 2006: a total of 567,000 guests with 1.25 million overnight stays, including a 32 per cent increase in foreign guests
- Football fans stayed longer: European football fans stayed an average of 8 days, non-Europeans 14 days
- 19,500 media representatives were accredited
- Transport: Deutsche Bahn had up to 600,000 additional travellers per day.

Expected economic effects of UEFA EURO 2024 for Berlin
- The UEFA EURO 2024 is expected to provide a significant economic boost for Berlin, as thousands of visitors are expected.
- Berlin will present itself as a modern and innovative sports centre and expects to generate several million euros in total added value for the city.
- Costs totalling 83 million euros are expected for the city vs. a city return of at least 90 million euros.
- Increased tourism: The tournament will boost tourism in Berlin by attracting international visitors who not only want to watch the games but also explore the city.

Who is Berlin's city ambassador?
Kevin-Prince Boateng is the Berlin ambassador for UEFA EURO 2024: The midfielder started out at his home club Hertha BSC before winning championships with AC Milan and FC Barcelona. He played internationally for Ghana and returned to Hertha towards the end of his career.
