Berlin starts its Reformation anniversary in 2017
- Citywide exhibition "Paradise is everywhere"
- "The Luther effect. 500 years after the Reformation" from 12 April at the Martin-Gropius-Bau
Berlin, 21 March 2017 With a large open-air exhibition between Easter and Whitsun, Berlin is celebrating the anniversary of the Reformation: under the heading "Paradise is everywhere", Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH will mark more than 70 places in Berlin with information about the Reformation and its impact on our everyday life and the way we live together. This exhibition also links up with the International Horticultural Exhibition (IHE), which will be launched on 13 April, revealing a little paradise within the city.
The most important events in Berlin at a glance
To mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, other events will take place in Berlin all year round, which are connected with Luther, his work and developments up to the present day. Three of the surviving original prints of the 95 theses against the selling of indulgences are currently to be seen in the Staatsbibliothek (state library). In May, the German Protestant Kirchentag takes place in the German capital.
Luther exhibition at the Staatsbibliothek
Under the title "Bible - Theses - Propaganda" the Berlin Staatsbibliothek will show three of the surviving original prints of the 95 theses against the selling of indulgences. Even more original Luther documents can be seen in the exhibition.

"The Luther effect. 500 years after the Reformation"
The German Historical Museum in the Martin-Gropius-Bau shows a large exhibition devoted to Luther's work and its consequences. In addition to Germany, the USA, South Korea and Tanzania are also being considered.

"Paradise is everywhere"
Open air citywide exhibition held from Easter to Whitsun, which makes paradise-like urban spaces visible in Berlin and informs about the effects of the Reformation on everyday life in present Berlin.

German Protestant Kirchentag
As part of the Kirchentag (church day), civil debates about religion and religious boundaries will be encouraged as part of worship services, concerts, podiums, lectures and workshops.
