Berlin tourism: growth course continues

Berlin, 11 June 2012 There could hardly have been more coming together in April: summer temperatures, Easter, Gallery Weekend, the Long Night of the Theatres and Museums, the long weekend before 1 May. The fact that Berlin was a tourist centre of attraction in April is reflected by the current numbers: around 922,500 guests or 8.7 percent more than during the comparative prior year period from Germany and abroad came to the German capital. The Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office announced today that almost 2.2 million room nights were recorded (+ 8.5 percent).

High growth rates for international tourists

Around 355,000 visitors from abroad spent 953,000 nights in Berlin – this corresponds to a 10.3 percent plus for arrivals and a 9.7 percent plus for room nights. Particularly high growth rates were recorded for visitors from Turkey (+61 percent), Luxembourg (+39 percent), Estonia (+30 percent) and the Arab Gulf States (+30 percent).

568,000 guests (+7.6 percent) came from Germany and spent 1,240,000 nights (+7.6 per cent) in Berlin.

Europe’s most modern hotel landscape continues to grow

In April 777 accommodations, from low-cost to high-class, with 123,849 beds were available to the visitors to the German capital (+ 4.4%). The average duration of stay was 2.4 days.
