Berlin WelcomeCard 2011 – The tourist ticket for the whole of Berlin
Berlin, 13 January 2011 With the Berlin WelcomeCard 2011 visitors can discover the German capital in a mobile and cost-effective manner. With the official tourist ticket of the city, card holders are granted up to 50% reduction for more than 160 attractions in Berlin and Potsdam. Furthermore, the ticket offers full flexibility with free-of-charge use of public transportation.
For the first time the Berlin WelcomeCard offers special concessions for seasonal Berlin events such as the Film Festival achtung Berlin and the Berlinvision Song Contest. This year visitors can also look forward to new co-operation partners, including the Admiralspalast, the monument for the murdered Jews of Europe or Jochen Schweitzer Base Flying. For night crawlers the Berlin WelcomeCard extends its nightlife offering in co-operation with renowned Berlin clubs, such as the Matrix or the Kaffee Burger.
Classics like the Berlin City Tour, Schloss Charlottenburg or the Deutsche Opera and the Television Tower are again on board this year: with the Berlin WelcomeCard visitors get a discount of at least 25% for popular cultural, culinary and tourist offerings.
The Berlin WelcomeCard Guide is available in a German-English version. Several tour suggestions are also available in Italian and Spanish. Detailed city maps for Berlin and Potsdam and an integrated U and S train schedule complete the product.
The Berlin WelcomeCard is available as a 48, 72-hour or five-day ticket variant in the tariff districts AB (Berlin) and ABC (Berlin/Potsdam). With the extended variant Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island, art lovers can visit, in addition, the five museums on Museum Island free-of-charge. Even more culture is offered by a combined package with the museum pass, which allows an additional visit of around 60 Berlin museums and collections.
The Berlin WelcomeCard 2011 is available from EUR 16.90 at the Berlin Tourist Infos, the airports, many Berlin hotels as well as the vending machines and counters of the Berlin transport authority.
