Convention industry meets Berlin

Berlin, 2 July 2009 Meeting Place Berlin 2009 officially begins on Thursday evening in the Berlin Club Goya. More than 150 organisers of conventions and meetings from around the globe will attend the kick-off event for the international workshop. Between 2 and 6 July they have an opportunity get to know the German capital as a convention destination.

Participants in Meeting Place Berlin attend the "Meet Professionals Day", the "Meet Facilities Day” and the "Meet Berlin Day“. During the first event they have pre-arranged appointments with a total of 47 local providers. The providers range from five-star hotels over special locations down to restaurants.

On the "Meet Facilities Day” the Hosted Buyers are given an overview of the Berlin venues. They visit meeting hotels and convention venues in Berlin. The "Meet Berlin Day” is devoted to attractions in the metropolis on the River Spree. During the sightseeing tour the participants have a chance to familiarise themselves with Berlin’s tourism. The focus is on art, culture and the alternative scene. The highlight of Meeting Place Berlin 2009 is a visit to a concert during the Classic Open Air Festival on Gendarmenmarkt. This event rounds off the workshop.

Every two years the Berlin Convention Office of Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (BTM) extends an invitation to Meeting Place Berlin. This event is being staged for the fifth time in co-operation with BTM-Partnerhotels e. V. and Berlin Preferred Agencies. It has made a name for itself as a co-operation platform for decision-makers in the field of meetings, conventions and unusual locations.
