Berlin, 11 November 2014 According to visitBerlin estimates, clearly more than one million visitors from outside of Berlin came to the city last weekend to participate in the commemorations marking a quarter century since the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

Burkhard Kieker, CEO of visitBerlin remarks: “Berlin has touched people’s hearts with the fabulous idea of a border of light. There was an upbeat mood with many expressions of solidarity as people took a moment to reflect on the past.”

Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH organised the lighting installation made up of 8,000 illuminated balloons that were released into the night sky over Berlin on the evening of 9 November.
