Three new Michelin stars for Berlin's top gastronomy

  • Three new Berlin restaurants honoured with a coveted star: "Loumi" in Kreuzberg, "Matthias" in Prenzlauer Berg and "Pars" in Charlottenburg
  • 28 Michelin stars make Berlin a gourmet capital
  • Six restaurants with a green star for sustainable cuisine

Berlin, 18 June 2025 Berlin is a mecca of the best food spots - and the capital of haute cuisine. This is also the view of the Michelin Guide, one of the world's leading restaurant guides. It honoured three Berlin restaurants with one of the coveted stars at a gala in Frankfurt am Main last night: "Matthias" in Prenzlauer Berg, "Pars" in Charlottenburg and "Loumi" in Kreuzberg. This means that Berlin now has 28 Michelin stars in 22 restaurants: one three-star restaurant, four two-star restaurants and 17 one-star restaurants.

No other German city has so many Michelin-starred restaurants
Berlin's number of Michelin-starred restaurants is unique in Germany. In addition to the established three-star restaurant Rutz, the four two-star restaurants Horváth, Coda, Facil and Tim Raue and 17 restaurants with one star were again honoured. One newcomer is the restaurant "Loumi" in Kreuzberg, which was founded in 2023. Head chef Karl-Louis Kömmler received his first star for his mix of Japanese-Asian and French cuisine. Silvio Pfeufer, head chef at the "Matthias" restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg, was also awarded a star. He has also been nominated for the title of Berlin Master Chef this year. Another star went to Florian Sperlhofer, head chef at "Pars" in Charlottenburg since the end of 2024. The Austrian-born chef was previously sous-chef at Berlin's only three-star restaurant "Rutz".

Sustainable cuisine in a sustainable city
In 2020, the Michelin Guide launched a very special award: the Green Star. Whether the origin and seasonality of the products, a balanced composition of the menus, the avoidance of waste or the management of resources: restaurants that pursue environmentally conscious and resource-saving practices deserve a green star. Berlin has six of them: the Bandol sur mer, the Bonvivant, the FREA, the Horváth, Nobelhart & Schmutzig and the Rutz.

Culinary Berlin
From avant-garde to Berlin cuisine, from vegetables to matured meat, from star chefs to career changers: Berlin sets culinary standards. Gourmet fans are attracted to the capital by the wide variety of cuisine styles and national cuisines. After all, its gastronomic offerings are one of the main reasons why guests decide to visit - and eating in a restaurant is the second most popular activity during a stay in the capital, right behind visiting the sights. Find out more about Berlin's gastronomy here.
