Once again record numbers of visitors in October / 20% more visitors from the USA

Berlin tourism continues to steer a successful course

Berlin, 10 December 2010 The number of people visiting Berlin is continuing to rise to record levels. Around 917 100 visitors made the trip to the Spree in October (+14%). With a total of

2 086 100 overnight stays, they spent more nights than ever before in the German capital (+12.5%).

“That’s more visitors to Berlin than we’ve ever had before in a single month” reports Burkhard Kieker, Director of visitBerlin. “Germany’s capital city is increasingly developing into a destination that is attractive right through the year – regardless of what the weather is like or which season it happens to be“.

From January to October 2010, 7 666 600 visitors came to Berlin – an increase of 10.9%. They spent 17 857 600 nights on the Spree, which represents a rise of 11.8% by comparison to the same period in the previous year.

The German capital was particularly popular in October with guests from the USA (+20.2%), Norway (+66.1%) and France (+23%) who availed themselves of a total of 753 accommodation outlets with 113 300 beds.
