Sharing im NENI Berlin

Berlin, 6 November 2025 Nowhere else in Germany is there such a wealth of creative gastronomy concepts as in Berlin. What begins here with passion and a spirit of experimentation often becomes a trend that spreads around the world.

"In Berlin, going out to eat means discovering something new," says Sabine Wendt, Managing Director of visitBerlin. "The capital stands for culinary creativity and innovation like no other city. This is where new concepts, flavours and food trends emerge in an industry with international appeal. Berliners appreciate this just as much as our guests from all over the world."

The most important trends
Sharing turns eating out into a communal experience, moving away from "one dish, one plate" to choosing and sampling together. Good places for this include Brasserie November, which serves Japanese dishes in Prenzlauer Berg, and BoiiBoii, which serves Thai cuisine in Kreuzberg. Italian delicacies can be shared at the restaurant Zum heiligen Teufel or at Kanal 61. At Barra in Neukölln, the motto is "better shared", as it is at  893 Ryotei on Kantstraße, a veritable Asian gourmet mile in Charlottenburg. At NENI Berlin in the 25hours Hotel am Zoo, Mediterranean, Persian and Austrian flavours dominate; here you can share a variety of mezze dishes while enjoying a panoramic view of the city.

Brunch used to be something for Sunday mornings. In many locations throughout the city, brunch is actually served every day until the evening. For example, at Benedict in Prenzlauer Berg until 11 p.m., at Frühstück 3000 in Kreuzberg and Schöneberg daily until 4 p.m., or at Jómo in Prenzlauer Berg on weekends until 5 p.m. Other outstanding brunch locations include Venue, with two locations in Neukölln and Steglitz. In February, the breakfast restaurant "The Dawn" will open on the roof terrace of Kalle Neukölln. Kalle used to be a department store, but today it houses a huge food market, among other things. Another award-winning brunch location is  Bonvivant in Schöneberg, which has been awarded a Michelin star.

Bonvivant also stands for another gastronomic trend in Berlin: casual fine dining. In addition, there is a strong focus on ecologically sustainable cuisine. Bandol Sur Mer on Torstraße also offers dining of the highest standard. Horváth in Kreuzberg has also won several awards. Gault Millau found "the most individual menu in Germany" here. Nobelhart & Schmutzig describes itself as "Germany's most political restaurant" and "brutally local" when it comes to the selection of its ingredients. In 2025, it was named one of the "World's 50 Best Restaurants". Rutz on Chausseestraße, Berlin's only three-star restaurant, is considered state of the art in innovative cuisine.  BRIKZ near Savignyplatz stands for Berlin gourmet cuisine that interprets tradition in a modern way.

A special highlight of the gastronomy scene: On 13 November, the "Berlin Master Chefs" (Berliner Meisterköche) will be honoured. For over 25 years, Berlin Partner has been recognising the diversity and quality of the capital's gastronomy with this award. The award honours outstanding personalities who shape Berlin's gastronomic profile with their skills and innovative concepts.
